If you live in Ireland, you’ve probably heard someone mention Vinted lately. It seems like everyone’s at it. Even my mother knows about it.
In case you haven’t come across it yet, Vinted is an online marketplace where you can buy and sell secondhand clothes, shoes, accessories, and homewares. It’s very affordable, and things arrive pretty quickly.
For sellers, it’s low-effort and there are zero selling fees. You get a sale, print a label, drop it off, and that’s it. Simple.
For buyers, you see something you like but think the price is a bit steep? You can send a lower offer and negotiate a lower price (a little haggle). When you’re ready to buy, you pay through Vinted’s secure checkout. Shipping is cheap and quick, and you’ll also see a small buyer protection fee added to your total.
Vinted doesn’t release the payment to the seller until you confirm everything is OK with your order. So if the item doesn’t arrive, gets damaged, or isn’t as described, you can open a dispute.
If you’re looking for ways to declutter, shop smarter, or stretch your budget a little further, Vinted is attractive.
But if you’re making a few sales on the side (or planning to), it’s worth understanding how that fits into your personal finances, especially when it comes to tax and the new DAC7 reporting rules.
I’ll be doing follow-up posts covering:
- How (or if) income tax applies to Vinted sellers
- Why DAC7 matters, especially if you’ve been flying under the radar

In the meantime, whether you’re selling the odd piece from your wardrobe or building a side hustle, it’s worth knowing where you stand, especially as platforms like Vinted become more regulated.
